The Challenge
Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe had been a Wingman client for several years when new owners Tara and Rick took over the handcrafted chocolate and candy business.
With new ownership came an opportunity to rethink how the brand presented itself.
The existing look leaned more traditional and upscale, using golds, neutrals, chocolate brown, and elegant serif and script fonts. The website was also fairly plain and focused heavily on e-commerce without much of Suzi’s personality coming through.
The new owners wanted something different.
Fun. Modern. Colorful. Welcoming. And, most importantly, delicious.
They wanted the brand to feel like the experience of walking into a great candy shop, while still making it easy for customers to shop online.
Starting Small, Then Building a Brand
The refresh didn’t begin with a massive rebranding project.
It started with everyday pieces the business needed: new business cards, postcards, and QR review signs.
For the business cards, Wingman’s creative team moved away from a standard corporate design. One side was designed to resemble a chocolate bar, while chocolate drips and employee information appeared on the other.
That chocolate drip became important.
The client loved it, and we realized we had found a visual element that could help tie the larger brand together.
Bringing That Personality Online
When it came time to redesign the website, we carried that same playful direction into the digital experience.
The new homepage was designed to put the products front and center while giving Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe a much stronger personality. Chocolate-inspired elements, playful typography, brighter colors, and prominent product photography replaced the more restrained look of the previous site.
The goal was still e-commerce. Customers needed to be able to discover products and shop easily.
But an online candy store should also make you want candy.
So the design was built to feel visually rich, playful, and unmistakably connected to what Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe actually sells.
Refining the Look Together
The final design came through collaboration.
Wingman initially presented two homepage concepts. Through client feedback and several rounds of smaller revisions, elements from both concepts were combined into the final design.
The chocolate drip stayed. The colors became bolder, eventually landing on the bright red used today. And throughout the process, the client continued responding positively to the new direction, including telling the team that she “loves the drip” and “really loves the homepage.”
One Brand, From Screen to Store
The refreshed creative wasn’t designed to live only on a website.
The new direction now carries through the business cards, in-store QR review signage, and the redesigned website, creating a more consistent experience wherever customers encounter Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe.
For an established business entering a new chapter, that consistency matters.
We weren’t trying to turn Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe into something it wasn’t.
We were helping the outside finally feel more like what’s inside:
Colorful. Fun. A little unexpected. And very much about chocolate.
